Slaughter & abuse of maids in Lebanon prompts Madagascar to fly women home

 I have written several blogs on the horrific abuse suffered by imported Asian maids at the hands of their muslim sponsors/employers in Saudi Arabia and other Middle Eastern countries. Directly below, my original post, is the latest indication that nations are noticing and trying to spare their women from abuse and death .- see current news article beneath this blog:

While browsing the web, yesterday, I viewed the Arab Times online site and came across several news articles about the rape and abuse of maids in Kuwait. I was surprised at the cluster of cases so I searched the web for more information and was nearly knocked off my chair when I realized the enormous extent of the huge numbers of foreign maids suffering abuse at the hands of their Middle East "sponsors".  To use the term "maid" is a misnomer - these women (and boys) are nothing more than modern day SLAVES.  Slaves to be abused, raped, tortured, maimed, and killed. 

Many of these maids come into the Middle East (particularly Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Lebanon) from Indonesia, the Phillipines, Sri Lanka and Ethiopia - smaller numbers come from India and Bangladesh. Saudi Arabia has the largest number of these imported domestics estimated at 200,000 in 2004. These maids are seen as inferiors to their Middle Eastern masters and many countries do not even recognize them as being covered by labor laws - including minimum wage:

"The plight of domestic workers in Lebanon rose to the spotlight during the summer of 2006, when Israel launched a thirty-four-day military offensive on Lebanon. In Arabic, the term "Abed" is used to denote a "black" person or "slave" and the word is sometimes heard in reference to Africans or Sri Lankans. Non-Arab Afro-Asian migrants in Lebanon are physically looked upon as inferior due to their positions as servants. These workers remain excluded under Article 6 of Lebanese labour laws and are often victims of abuse by both employers and agencies." LINK

The vast majority of these women are seeking an opportunity to earn money and send remittances back to their families - 

".......Phillipines, where the economy relies heavily on remittances from nearly eight million Filipinos working overseas. Of that eight million, about 73,000 work in Kuwait. Some 60,000 are women employed mainly as maids and earning less than $200 a month on average, labor groups say.

Some of these woman do quickly realize the danger and manage to escape in a few days. But, many of the remaining "servants" are left in a living nightmare.

ANTANANARIVO (AFP)

Madagascar's government early Thursday flew home 86 women domestic workers from Lebanon who had been subjected to abuse amid concerns over the deaths of 17 Madagascan maids in the past year.

Population Minister Nadine Ramaroson said at Antananarivo airport as she welcomed the women that most of them "had run away from their employers."

"Their return home was negotiated by the Madagascan consul in Lebanon after either the women themselves or their families asked for them to be repatriated," Ramaroson said.

The government decided to charter a plane after numerous cases of abuse were reported. The Population Ministry received more than 600 repatriation requests from maids or their families.

The Union of Qualified Domestic Workers (SPDTS), a non-governmental organization that helps the victims and their families, says that in the past year alone 17 Madagascan maids in Lebanon died from abuse suffered at the hands of their employers.

"There have been a lot of deaths," Prime Minister Camille Vital said. "That's why the government has decided to repatriate those who wanted to come home. The government is paying for this repatriation."

On their arrival at the airport the young women were met by social workers from SPDTS and by staff from different ministries tasked with providing medical care and counseling.

"My boss used to hit me and didn't give me my salary. I'm very, very happy to be back home," said 25-year-old Leonie.

Another woman who gave her name as Augustine said: "The friend with whom I ran away from my boss wasn't able to get on the plane at the last minute. I'm really worried about her. She's not in good shape."

More than 7,000 Madagascans work in Lebanon, according to SPDTS. In 2010 around 500 of them came home before the end of their contract.

And as usual - the dhimmified Christian clergy rush to make excuses and protect muslims when the REAL problem is right before their rose-colored glassed eyes = Muslims!!!!!!!!! The people in the Burton area need to "calmly"? address this outrage- immediately- and STOP the intentional defilement of their city and their honorable War Memorial.

Muslim Vandals daub hate signs on war memorial

A WAR memorial has been sprayed with extremist Islamic graffiti less than a year after a similar attack in the same town.

Church and community leaders yesterday appealed for calm after the latest outrage in Burton, ­Staffordshire.

They spoke out after enraged residents discovered the words “Support Taliban” on the ­newly-erected monument in the outlying village of Stretton.

A local bus shelter was also vandalised and daubed with the slogan “Jihad 4 Iraq”.

Last April, the words “Islam will dominate the world – Osama is on his way” and “Kill Gordon Brown” were written on a cenotaph in the town centre three miles away.

The memorial to Stretton’s war dead was erected just six months ago following a 20-year campaign to provide a focus for remembrance in the village.

Vicar Rev Kim Thomas said: “I’m very sad this has happened.

“The memorial was set up in memory of the people of Stretton who died defending their country and now someone has come along and defaced it.

Local leaders play stupid, again.

Heroes vs Coward

Heroes vs Cowards - easy to tell who is who - on a variety of "levels". Mr Lee Spalding and Mr Tom Bardon, and the unnamed security guard are indeed heroes - shocking that some dhimmified Human Rights lawyer hasn't filed suit against them for harming the poor Khalid and causing him the distress of being caught and going to jail.

Three years sentence - is a joke. Throw away the key on this unrepentent piece of trash.

Robber caught by courageous public imprisoned

20 Year old Khalid BASHIER of Plymouth Terrace, SIdmouth Road, London NW2 has been sentenced at Wood Green Crown Court on Friday 25/02/11 for his part in the robbery of 70 Year old victim and his business associate, a 47 Year old woman.

 The offence took place in broad daylight in Vivian Avenue NW4 after the couple had visited the bank to withdraw funds for their business.  A large sum of money was placed in two carrier bags, with the victims carrying a bag each as they made their way across the road.  As they reached the path on the other side of the road, they were attacked by Bashier and his accomplice.
 

The second suspect, whom Bashier refused to name, attacked the 70 year old from behind, attempting to snatch the bag of money from his hands but he refused to let go and as a result of the struggle the elderly man fell to the ground. The suspect tripped and fell backwards into the plate glass window of a shop which broke beneath his weight. The shock of this appeared to cause the suspect to drop the bag of money, which the elderly victim managed to retrieve as the suspect ran away.

Bashier attacked the women, again from behind, and fought with her so ferociously that he caused her to fall face first onto the concrete footpath, dragging her several meters before he finally managed to steal the bag of money from beneath her. CCTV footage from local establishments captured the true severity and violence of the incident.

Her cries for help alerted two postal workers, Mr Lee Spalding and Mr Tom Bardon, and a local security guard. On seeing the women in distress, the three gave chase and managed to apprehend Bashier as he attempted to make off along nearby streets. They retrieved the bag of money he had stolen and ensured that he was detained until the arrival of police.  

In summation of the case, the Judge, His Honour Mr Sing  described the victims as being vulnerable people whom Bashier and his accomplice  targeted deliberately, stating "I do not believe that this attack was not planned or by chance".He went on to say "It was nasty robbery where the victims were subjected to force"and he believed that it was only by good fortune that the victims did not sustain any serious injuries.

Mr Sing commented that an immediate and substantial custodial sentence was warranted to protect other potentially vulnerable victims and to allow shopkeepers to go about their business without fear. He stated that Bashier showed no regard for his victims and commended the actions of the witnesses, who, without concern for their own safety rushed to assist other members of the public who were clearly in distress and calling for help  

A sentence of 3 years was handed down for the robbery of the elderly victim and a further 3 years for the robbery of the women to be served concurrently.

Mr Lee Spading said. “It was a spur of the moment thing. We heard the commotion in the street and we acted on impulse, chased the guy and captured him. We then just waited for the police to arrive. We were determined to stop him; It didn’t occur to us until later that he might have been carrying something. We were just being public spirited, when you see and an older women being dragged across the pavement you feel you have to do something.” 

DC Aileen Davies of Colindale CID stated  "This was a particularly violent and nasty robbery which has left the victims shaken and traumatised. Bashier and his accomplice were ready to use excessive levels of force to ensure that they obtained money that did not belong to them, without any consideration for the risk to their victims, or the lasting effects that being subjected to such an ordeal may have had upon them. This has been reflected in the sentence handed down.

“The violence of the robbers makes the bravery of the members of the public who detained Bashier all the more commendable.  While, we would always want the public to keep safe and not take risks, the courage of these men should not be overlooked.

“Hopefully Bashier's conviction will serve as an example to other young people who are under the misapprehension that criminal acts to obtain wealth or property at the expense of others will go unpunished.”
